What are you watching these days?

After finishing season two of The Boys (awesome stuff) and season two of The Umbrella Academy (perhaps even more awesome-y stuff), I'm now taking a gloriously deep dive into What We Do In The Shadows.

If you like deadpan humor and vampires and New Zealand, this sucker is right up your alley.

So I gotta ask: what are you watching these days?

Recently started watching Lucifer and so far I'm enjoying it.

Watching Star Trek: The Lower Decks - Humorous if you enjoy animated comedy parody style shows - If you liked Futurama, and enjoy the Star Trek universe, you will enjoy The Lower Decks.

Well I'm waiting for The Rookie to come back, among other shows I quite enjoyed...

I've been watching Critical Role which is not technically a TV show but whatever I count it.

Lower Decks is done until next season, but that just means Star Trek: Discovery is back for season 3.

I watched Marvel's Helstrom and thought it was decent, if a bit silly. I loved the sibling chemistry between the two leads. Pretty sure it got cancelled already though.

The 100 is over after 7 seasons but for a CW show it was decent.

Oooo Rookie. Yeah, i can't wait for that one to come back.

I gave The 100 several seasons, but eventually gave up on it. I just couldn't stay into it.

          I knooooooow! That cliffhanger!

Also the episode with the serial killer who abducted Lucy was nuts too.

I can understand that. It gets pretty interesting for a bit when they travel to another planet and pay off some of the little hints from early in the series. Not entirely certain they stuck the landing with the ending, but it wasn't GOT levels of terrible.

I tend to follow/watch shows filmed locally (Vancouver) when possible, though I never got on the Supernatural, iZombie or Lucifer trains...

The Good Doctor starts up in November though! And Greys Anatomy!

          And the Expanse in December!

A few years back we made the decision to get rid of cable and just use a collection of streaming services. At this point, our household has Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Prime Video, and Shudder.

The problem we've run into since then is that we've learned, in the case of any original series made by that streaming service or a series that they are adding seasons of because it's still currently running on TV, we need to wait until that entire series is done, meaning it has finished its last season and aired an actual finale episode with an actual ending to its story. Because my wife and I are tired of starting a currently ongoing series and getting invested in it only to find out after a year or so that the decision was made to cancel it. It's so frustrating to have that unfinished story in our heads forever now like that. So at this point we watch and wait until we know it's safe to even start watching something. It's sad that we even have to do this but that's the way things are right now.

I'm super excited for the next season of The Expanse. I could listen to Shohreh Vaziri-Tabar talk all day.

Oh yeah, that was a super crazy episode. Even among serial killers, who DOES that to someone? Insane. I love anything Nathan Fillion is in, but the Rookie has definitely exceeded my expectations.

Since you like Rookie, might I suggest Castle if you haven't seen it yet. The ending is kind of bad, since they got canceled, but the show is good.

My wife stayed with it for several seasons after I did, but even she eventually gave up - I'm not sure when - And she RARELY drops a show before its over. I don't know what it was about that show, but I just couldn't. I really wanted to like it, it had an interesting base plot line, but... -shrug-

I'm only 4 or 5 episodes into Lucifer, but so far I would give it a thumbs up. I also have never gotten on the Supernatural or iZombie trains.

This is excellent news! Good Doctor is such a good show. In the same vein (Medical Dramas), I would recommend Code Black. It only got 3 seasons, but it was rather excellent.

Also in the same vein, we're watching Transplant at the moment. Its rather good so far.

It's time to get into it, Fox. Besides, since every red blooded American already pays for the glorious two day shipping of Amazon Prime anyway, you probably have that show just sitting there waiting for you to watch it anyway.

We were watching Santa Clarita Diet, since you mention Fillion, and then that one got cancelled without an ending, which sucks because it was really, really good. We keep up with SNL and Bob's Burgers as they air. We've done season 1 of The Boys. Will watch season 2 soon. We did all of Dexter and we're excited about the 10-episode revival coming soon. We started The Simpsons over from the beginning and are making our way to present day. That will take some time. We liked Community, My Name is Earl, and Raising Hope. We did Orange is the New Black and that one season of Russian Doll. We're watching an X-Files every now and then. Brooklyn-99 is great. Loved the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The Office, of course, and Parks and Rec. The Good Place. We did Seinfeld. Buffy and Angel. American Horror Story. One Punch Man. Nailed It. Creepshow, the series. Currently enjoying Ozark and hoping it gets an ending.

My god, Drew, you and I really ought to be best friends. haha

Santa Clarita was great. What We Do In The Shadows is a nice tonal follow up, in some ways.

You'll love The Boys season 2. Better than the first, truly, and I liked the first a lot.

Watched every episode. Obvious favorite is the halloween one he dressed up as a 'space cowboy'. Plus the chemistry between him and Stana was so good.

Weirdly I'm not actually super into medical dramas, though I've been watching Greys Anatomy forever by this point. My SIL has recommended Transplant though so maybe I'll give it a look. I also briefly watched The Resident (because Emily VanCamp) but didn't get past the first few episodes.

                        Do it.

                        Also Mandalorian is back soon!

My younger brother watches WWDITS and tells me it's very good. I intend to watch it soon since I did like the movie a lot, but I like anything Taika Waititi does.

I forgot to mention The Strain and The Walking Dead. We watch those. And the spinoff Fear the Walking Dead. And Preacher. And we loved Breaking Bad, its El Camino movie, and what we've seen of Better Call Saul.

There's South Park, we keep up with that. We did Game of Thrones. Metalocalypse. Modern Family. Rick and Morty.

Sons of Anarchy. Justified. Billy on the Street. Magic for Humans. Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

All the Netflix Marvel shows before they were put to an end - Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, The Punisher, The Defenders.

Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. Family Guy and American Dad. F is for Family. Big Mouth.

The Blacklist. Portlandia. Stranger Things. Bojack Horseman. Black Mirror.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Peaky Blinders. Ash vs Evil Dead. The Mandalorian. From Dusk til Dawn, the series.

Arrested Development. The Toys That Made Us. Glow. Tiger King. Master of None.

Documentary Now. Weeds. Atypical. And we often use "murder porn" like Forensic Files as generic noise while we play on our phones/laptops in bed until we're ready to shut everything off and go to seep.

I miss those Marvel Netflix shows. Daredevil was great and so was Jessica! Luke Cage was amazing for half a season there, and the Defenders was kinda fun.

And Iron Fist...well, look, at least the last two minutes of the series ever were cool, setting up plotlines we'll never, ever get to see.

It's almost Expanse Season 5 time, which will become my obsession shortly, but for right now, I'm enjoying DC's Titans, which just showed up on HBO Max. Now, I never invested in the DC streaming service, but if I had, it only would have been for Titans, which got good reviews and looked cool from what I could see. Turns out, three episodes in, it is cool. Cheers to HBO Max for snapping up something I actually wanted to watch from a different service I didn't want to pay for.
