    Love of gaming

How does one, without making them feel criticized or attacked, tell their DM that they aren’t being as narrative based as I would like? Like maybe there are tools or something that could make creating a good story on top of the cool traps and fights he puts together I could get him, so that it does not look like I’m unhappy? Thank you in advance everyone.

A lot of what you ask for comes down to having the time to do it. A lot of people on here running games also play in a lot of them or just don’t have the time in real life to make time for their game.

How are you playing this game that your DM is running? In person or remotely? How long has the game been going? How many other players are there?

We starting in person but moved to roll20 because of Covid concerns. However we are a tight bunch where our familys will hang out without us sometimes. That's also why I am trying to be careful.

You could start out by asking your DM how they feel the game is going, whether or not they are having a good time, and if there's anything in particular that you can do to make the experience better. After they've answered your questions, they'll probably ask you the same ones back, and that will be the time to tell them that their game is good and you would just like the narrative levels raised a bit. If they do not ask the questions back, you can just ask if they mind if you share your thoughts as a player.

Though I'm about five months too late to this one, I'll just say this: as usual, Drew's advice is darn good and well worth following.
